Canoe the whitewater of the 'Mighty' Fall River

Since this years' spring float trip to Eastern Oklahoma turned out to be a 'wash out', I have found an alternative and a second opportunity that is much closer. There is a gentleman in Eureka, KS (only 30 miles east of El Dorado ) that opporates a twelve canoe rental service that floats the Fall River which flows into the lake. Rates are $12 a person. That stretch of river has riffles and short rapids that would be lots of fun on a summer Saturday, and work free! He provides canoes, paddles, lifejackets, and shuttles canoes and picks up at takeout points. He operates on a first come first serve basis, so planning ahead has its advantage.

Since canoeing Kansas streams, especially in the Flint Hills, is very dependent on recent rains, the sooner we go after the rainy spells of a couple weeks ago, the better. I know this is being put together on short notice, but I am trying to take advantage of good floating water. Plan to go Saturday May 30.

If you are interested in going, reply to this notice at my e-mail address: jhoughNoSpamsktc.net no later than Wednesday and let me know so I can reserve canoe numbers. Make sure you let me know how many total people you are planning for. It is fine if you want to go as solo, since we can pair any number of people up. We will probably meet at the McDonald's on Kellogg east of Greenwich Rd. and carpool and caravan up to Eureka.

Good Night and Good Luck.

Oops! I had totally forgot that Dave Pauly was having his Lake Party this Sat.!!!!!! I am not going to be competition, so I am going to HAVE to postone this float till the next 'fast water' weekend!!! It will happen again, and when they get some good rains around Eureka, I will send out an announcement for any one who wants to fast float on the next Sat.

Good Night and Good Luck.
