If watching actual military aircraft blowing stuff up with live amunition sounds like fun, come to this open house. It is free.
Previously F16, A10, B52, B1, B2, C130, KC-135 airplanes and Chinook, Blackhawk, Huey and Apache helicopters have been at this show. All of them put on a display of their power and capabilities.
Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 01, 2009. Flying activities are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and will last approximately 5 hours. Featured events will include aerial gunnery and training demonstrations by the fighter, bomber, and other military aircraft that train at Smoky Hill ANG Range. (This is the "bombing range" approx. 20 miles southwest of Salina.)
Hot dogs, pop, water, and memorabilia will be available for purchase. Coolers are welcome but no alcohol is allowed. Some bleachers and picnic tables will be available for seating, however, lawn chairs are encouraged as bleacher capacity will be exceeded. Ear protection will be provided at no cost. Sunscreen and sunglasses should be considered. An emergency medical vehicle will be present.
When in doubt, just point them downhill.
